On a bright sunny day on a beautifully maintained pitch OCs started well and despite being penalised 5 times (Evesham only once) in the first 5 minutes we take the lead with Ayuk scoring on 8 minutes following a brilliant run. Chat then converted even though the ball rolled off the tee, he picked it up and drop kicked before Evesham reacted.

Long haired multiple try scorer, for Evesham, from previous games attacked a number of times and was well tackled by likes of Luke, Josh and Jake and we then actually managed to win our 2nd penalty – good kick making great ground for us to manage to lose our lineout again. Evesham left wing breaks and Emosi is deemed to have high tackled – yellow card. Evesham then take advantage and score left corner.

From kick off we manage to work our way towards Evesham’s 22. From the lineout we win a penalty that is duly converted by Chat.

At the 25 minute mark we are back to 15 men. Jim Ryan has to go off and Tom Houston comes on. Evesham move ball well and then knock on. We win scrum and kick to clear, following their lineout win again, we get penalised for handling, another lineout. Evesham win cleanly and move along their line and score in the corner. Converted.

Slow and quiet start to the 2nd half. We kick out of our 22, don’t make touch. Evesham catch and counter attack moving the ball and scoring under posts.

Aaron comes on for Jake. We make some good moves with all in the backs involved. Within space of 4 minutes we get 2x yellow cards. Paul Wilkes and James Callaway.

Wide attack by Evesham well defended particularly by George, Ollie and Ayuk, leads to a scrum. Tom goes off and passive scrum – Evesham win and their No8 quickly picks up and goes over

From kick off we set up and move ball well in a number of phases. There is then a great break by Ollie with Chat scoring under the posts. Drop kick conversion by Chat

Tom Houston goes off and Jim Ryan back on. Great break by Jack but good defence by Evesham. Really good maul defence by Josh and Luke winning scrum for OCs. From the scrum we attack and Evesham concede penalty try

From restart we move and attack brilliantly from our own 22. Win a penalty and kick to Evesham 10m. Dan wins lineout and we work toward Evesham line, Jim Ryan breaks and scores with Chat converting. Into last minute.

A lot to be proud of once we got past understanding the referee‘s criteria for penalties. Some hard work up front from all, but some work needed in lineouts. All involved in some lovely moves and really good work by debutants – welcome to OCs. Last quarter we really clicked and if we can replicate that level of handling in attack and our work in defence then we will win many more games.
