Old Coventrians RFC is a Registered Charity, reflecting the Club's aims and the activities of the many volunteers who work together to promote the development and enjoyment of the sport.
Our Charitable Aim
........is to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing
facilities for playing amateur rugby union football and other sports in the City of
Coventry and Warwickshire.
Our Benefit to the Community
We have an excellent record for helping children and young adults to learn to play and enjoy
rugby football, and for helping them to appreciate the RFU core values.
Participation by children and young people we believe helps them to appreciate and develop
having regard to:
- the value of physical exercise for their own personal health
- the value of developing both physical, mental and social skills
- the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship
We also provide facilities for adults to participate in competitive and social rugby by running
teams in the RFU amateur leagues.
These values are what makes the game special for those who enjoy the environment and
culture they create. They define the game and define England Rugby.
Our Resources
The Club is managed entirely by unpaid committed volunteers. We own our site and raise
income from a variety of sources, including subscriptions, cell-phone mast rentals, function
room hire and Car Boots.
We also own a trading subsidiary which runs the bar and donates its annual profits to the
Charity. Sponsorship also helps greatly to enable us to grow participation in rugby within the
local community.
Our Charitable Development Aims
We aim to generate a surplus each year which can be reinvested into our charitable aims in
three primary ways:
1. Investing in our facilities
2. Undertaking initiatives to promote rugby and encourage new players of all ages to
take up the sport.
3. Invest in our volunteer base to ensure that children and young people participate in a
safe and properly managed environment
